Drivers and residents in Albemarle County could see changes to on-street parking later this year.
Gov. Ralph Northam approved SB 679 and HB 776, which add Albemarle to the list of counties that may write an ordinance to regulate parking on secondary highways. Both Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, D-Bath, and Del. R. Steven Landes, R-Weyers Cave, introduced identical bills on the issue.
Secondary highways are local connector roads or county roads that are maintained by the state and generally are numbered 600 and above, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
