Consultant sought for city housing strategy

Charlottesville’s Housing Advisory Committee soon will ask the City Council for funding to hire consultants to help create a long-term housing development strategy.

While the amount of the funding request has not been determined yet, Alex Ikefuna, director of the city’s Department of Neighborhood Development Services, said the request is likely to land somewhere around $150,000. The plan is expected to be completed by spring 2019.

The council is expected to consider the funding request around the same time as a housing needs assessment — which will cost at least $54,500 — will be presented to the council.
