Emails, documents show Kessler shifting to D.C. rally

Unlike last summer, when he said he would hold his Unite the Right rally regardless of whether the city would give him a permit, Jason Kessler appears to be putting his plans for an anniversary rally in Charlottesville on hold.

Last month, according to a federal court filing submitted Friday, Kessler said in a deposition hearing that he does not plan to hold a rally in Charlottesville if he fails in his lawsuit against the city.

And according to a website for the event and an email Kessler sent to rally supporters last week, he is now planning for the rally to take place at Lafayette Square across from the White House in Washington, D.C., instead of Emancipation Park.
