Report: Area home prices rising as sales ramp up

Charlottesville home prices are continuing to rise as demand outstrips supply in the local market.

The median sale price in the greater Charlottesville area was $314,500 in the second quarter of 2018, according to the home sales report released Wednesday by the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors. That’s a 1.6 percent increase from the second quarter of 2017 and the highest median sale price ever in the Charlottesville area, according to historical data from CAAR.

The greater Charlottesville area, as defined by CAAR, includes the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson.
