Transportation Funding Options Report

At yesterday’s meeting of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), a

final report

was provided from a

Transportation Funding Options Working Group

that has been working throughout the past year.

The

Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission

has made the report available on their website with the following description:

The Funding Options Working Group has made recommendations for alternative sources of funding for critical transportation projects in our region. This wide-ranging stakeholder group was convened by the Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to address severe statewide budget constraints and the need to expedite implementation of regional transportation projects.

The public will have an opportunity to provide input on this report directly to the MPO at their November 14, 2005 meeting.  The MPO is expected to take action at that meeting on these recommendations and send them on to City Council and the Board of Supervisors.
