UVA Students Give Back During The BIG Event

The BIG Event is the largest day of community service nationwide for college students, and Madison House — the volunteer center for University of Virginia students  — is organizing the local version!

This year, 480+ UVA students will come together to perform acts of service throughout Charlottesville on Saturday, April 9 from 9:00am-1:00pm. This year is the second annual BIG Event at UVA.

The BIG Event will commence with a kick-off event from 8:00am to 9:00am. President Teresa Sullivan will address the students at approximately 8:45am.

Many non-profit organizations, charities, and individuals in the Charlottesville community have a wish list of projects that they never seem to have the time and resources to finish. Volunteers from The BIG Event will help complete those projects.

During the past academic year, more than 3,170 UVA students volunteered through Madison House with over 165 community partners in the Charlottesville-Albemarle area every week. The BIG Event is unique from Madison House’s other programming in that it is one special day of service to say “thank you” to the Charlottesville community.
