In Virginia, clerks of Circuit Court are elected for eight-year terms and have a range of duties, including making sure the public has access to Circuit Court records. Justin D. Midkiff is the incumbent and is running unopposed for the office of Clerk of Circuit Court for Buckingham County.
Midkiff has served as clerk in Buckingham County for five years, after winning against four opponents in a special election for the position in 2015. If elected this will be his first full term.
Midkiff is the only candidate certified by the Virginia Department of Elections, though voters can write in other candidates’ names if they choose.
Midkiff did not return a questionnaire sent by Charlottesville Tomorrow with questions regarding his office and candidacy.
