In Virginia, clerks of Circuit Court are elected for eight-year terms and have a range of duties, including making sure the public has access to Circuit Court records. Melissa G. Morris is running unopposed for the office of Clerk of Circuit Court for Orange County.
Morris has served as interim clerk in Orange County since July, when she was appointed to replace the retiring clerk, Teresa Carroll. If elected this will be Morris’ first term.
Morris is the only candidate certified by the Virginia Department of Elections, though voters can write in other candidates’ names if they choose.
Morris did not return a questionnaire sent by Charlottesville Tomorrow with questions regarding her office and candidacy.
