In Virginia, county school boards are composed of one member from each district in that county, and sometimes include an at-large member. Members are elected to four-year terms and serve as the leaders of the school district by setting the policies for and hiring a superintendent, among other duties. The Buckingham County Public Schools Board has seven members, one from each of its districts.

There is no certified candidate running to represent District 6 on the Buckingham County Public School Board. Voters can still write in a candidate on their ballots, and the person with the most write-in votes will be asked to join the board (assuming they are legally qualified to serve). But if there is no qualified write-in winner, or the winner does not accept the position, the Board will make an appointment, according to the Code of Virginia.

Current member Michelle Ford won in 2022 by a close margin.
