Thursday, Jan. 25, local experts will gather to talk about mental health in Charlottesville and the surrounding area.

The event is part of the “Can I Talk To You C-Ville?” series, hosted by Vinegar Hill Magazine and In My Humble Opinion Talk Show, and will take place at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center from 6 to 8 p.m. that night. It is free and open to the public.

Gene Cash, CEO of the Counseling Alliance of Virginia, and Eboni Bugg, Director of Community Investment for the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, will be the panelists. Both Cash and Bugg are experienced Licensed Clinical Social Workers who have worked in the Charlottesville area for years. Together, they will discuss the challenges of, and opportunities for, mental healthcare in the area.

There will be breakout discussions with attendees, too, moderated by Juanika Howard, a counselor with the Women’s Initiative and member of Prolyfyck Run Crew, and Marquez Mitchell, a counselor who works with at-risk kids and owns The Art Bar, a drop-in craft spot.
