Krieger retired to the Charlottesville area and then, she committed to a new calling: highlighting Black contributions and history in central Virginia.

Enid Krieger has 38 years of leadership experience in healthcare. A registered nurse, she earned a bachelor's from Tuskegee University and a master’s from Columbia University/Teachers College. She spent 20 years with the New York State Department of Health in NYC, retiring as the Director of Hospital and Long-Term Care Surveillance programs. In 1994, Enid was recruited to become the Executive Director of St. Mary’s Hospital of Brooklyn, a position from which she retired (again!) in 1999. Since relocating to the Charlottesville area she has been involved in a myriad of non-profit boards and committees. Currently she chairs The Center at Belvedere’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and is the editor of Beloved Community CVille’s newsletter.
