In February, Charlottesville Tomorrow launched the Housing Resources Guide. It’s a comprehensive online guide to nearly 100 housing-related resources in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

The Guide includes everything from eviction prevention services to tax relief, home repair for low-income homeowners, and rental assistance.

And now the Housing Resources Guide print brochures are here — and they’re available in four languages: Arabic, English, Pashto and Spanish.

Brochures on a white table, including one that has a purple and orange logo that says "Housing Resource Guide."
Those who help folks with housing asked for Charlottesville Tomorrow’s Charlottesville Albemarle Housing Resources Guide in print — so we made brochures in four languages.

While reporting on housing in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, I saw the need for the Guide after interviewing community members who could use — and probably qualify for — the help that these programs offer, and yet had no idea these resources exist here.

Listening to the community is also what led us to the print version.

When Mike Parisi and I were researching for the Guide in summer and fall 2024, we talked with the dozens of people who administer these programs. Many of them had the same request: Make a print version, and make it available in multiple languages.

So that’s what we’ve done. We’ve taken the basic information for dozens of programs in the online guide and distilled that into a one-page brochure that is now available in four languages.

The brochures are available to download and print on our website. If you’d like print copies but don’t have access to a printer, please reach out to us and we’ll get brochures to you.

We worked with the Edwin C. Gentzler Translation Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on the translations.

Our plan is to update the brochure annually, because in order for it to be useful, it needs to be current. How else can we improve the guide? Click here to let us know — we’d love to hear your ideas.

If you find the Housing Resources Guide useful, and want to see more local news that builds community, we can only do it together.
