Charlottesville Supplemental Rental Assistance Program (CSRAP)
CSRAP, funded by City of Charlottesville and administered by the Charlottesville Redevelopment & Housing Authority (CRHA), provides rental assistance to low-income families. The program works much like the Housing Choice Voucher program and uses the same waiting list. The demand for CSRAP vouchers is much greater than the number available. The first step is to apply to the waiting list when it periodically opens. If you gain a spot on the waiting list and later receive a voucher, you pay 30% of your monthly income toward your rent, and the voucher covers the rest. Not all landlords accept vouchers.
- Your income is less than or equal to 60% of area median income (AMI). Examples as of 2025:
- $60,420 for a household of 2
- $75,480 for a household of 4
- Rental units in Charlottesville cannot cost more than 125% of fair market rent (FMR). Examples as of 2025:
- $1,859 for a 1br
- $2,161 for a 2br
- Rental units in Albemarle County cannot cost more than 110% of fair market rent (FMR). Examples as of 2025:
- $1,636 for a 1br
- $1,902 for a 2br
Call, visit the website, or follow CRHA's Facebook page to learn when the waiting list opens and for details on how to apply.
