A new view of the Western Bypass
by Brian Wheeler | Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:59 p.m.

Charlottesville Tomorrow has spent the past 16 months providing our readers in-depth information and exclusive audio of the debate over the U.S. 29 Western Bypass project.  Now, we have created 3D visualizations that allow you to see how the 2012 road design could change your commute, the character of your neighborhood, and of our entire community.

We think these images bring a lot of the details into focus like never before and we hope you will review them ahead of the public information session being held Thursday, September 27.

In the slideshow you can view 24 different perspectives of the project.  In the blue box at the right, there are links to two videos and one Adobe PDF file (7.5 MB) with everything for easy viewing on your own computer.

Charlottesville Tomorrow would like to thank Bob Pineo of Design Develop LLC for his work preparing these visuals.  Of course, we could never have done this without the community's support and engagement.  This endeavor was "crowd-funded" with a Kickstarter campaign and the financial support of almost 80 different people in our community.  Thank you.
