You’re Invited: Superintendent Listening Tour

Dear Community Members:

On July 1, I succeeded Dr. Pam Moran as Superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools. One of my first priorities is to ask for your ideas about how we can continue to improve our school division. This year, the national education survey organization, Niche, ranked Albemarle County as third best among Virginia’s 131 school divisions. Our teachers were ranked in the top three percent of all divisions in the state. I think we can do even better.

I hope your calendar will allow you to attend one the following conversations this summer about our schools:

Wednesday, July 25 | 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. | Albemarle High School | Register
Tuesday, July 31 | 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. | Western Albemarle High School | Register
Wednesday, August 8 | 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. | Monticello High School | Register

If you are unable to join me in person, I encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas through the Online Feedback Form. You also may follow the progress of my first 100 days as Superintendent online at www.k12albemarle.org/First100Days.

The guidelines for these community conversations are simple: You do the talking and I’ll take notes. I want to hear about what our school division is doing really well, where there are opportunities for significant improvement, and what you would like to see on the most ambitious of our to-do lists.

On previous occasions, the community input we received made a measurable difference in our decision-making process. We had large turnouts to guide our thought process when we revised our strategic plan and when we modernized our high school learning experience. I know your contributions will be equally valuable this time.

Thank you for your support of our students and your engagement with our schools. The future success we will achieve for our students and our county will be made even greater with your help.

Sincerely,

Dr. Matthew Haas
Superintendent
Albemarle County Public Schools
