We will once again encourage our students to play in the sandbox, and celebrate each other as a community in creating Broadway at The Paramount.  DMR Adventures has always challenged Charlottesville’s youth to cultivate art with the values of honesty, inclusion, and creativity. As someone who always strives to create art with a purpose, this year’s camp and show will continue to embody those values culminating in an entertaining and moving evening.”

DMR Adventures provides professional performing arts training FROM the professionals. The high caliber of training serves to drive passion, discipline, and commitment in the students with whom they work. Part of this training includes a mentorship program, the Youth Leadership Program. This program allows driven students with an interest in leadership the opportunity to handle responsibilities as members of the creative or technical team on productions and assist or lead classes.  Students have gone on to top musical theatre conservatories and university training programs, and to perform in film, television, and even a national tour!

DMR believes in making performances and classes accessible to all, and have worked with communities with underserved populations as well as families with children who have sensory-related issues to make a difference for these students through the arts. They are proud to have provided approximately $50,000 in scholarships and discounts to students in need. ABOUT THE PARAMOUNT THEATER

The 1,040 seat Paramount Theater of Charlottesville has been a local landmark since 1931. After holding a prominent place in our community for decades, The Paramount closed in 1974 as business in downtown faded. After an extensive restoration, the fully renovated Paramount Theater re-opened in 2004. As we approach twelve years since reopening, The Paramount has now served hundreds of thousands of Central Virginians and attracted visitors from far and wide. Some of the world’s most celebrated artists have graced its stage. The tally of students and teachers who have attended educational programs is over 158,000!

As a nonprofit performing arts center, our mission is to:

•offer the Central Virginia community a wide range of arts, education, and entertainment events with the goal of reaching diverse audiences and enriching our community

•present educational programs for school-age children, teens, college students, and the community at large

•make its facilities and resources available for use by charitable, arts, community, and other organizations and individuals for presentation of their performances and events

The Paramount Theater is generously supported by many donors, corporations and organizations. We thank our Paramount Producer’s Club Sponsors for their generous support.
