Charlottesville, VA – Tuesday, January 26, 2016 – Local nonprofit Building Goodness Foundation (BGF) is pleased to introduce its first female board president. Diane Hillman, with a background in healthcare, strategic and program planning, will lead BGF into a new era over the next two years. Hillman was recently elected to the spot by BGF’s Board of Directors.
“I’m ready to get to work and help make an impact,” explained Hillman. “I’m excited about BGF’s upcoming projects. They address serious needs of communities locally and internationally.”
Hillman will help oversee an ambitious construction plan for 2016. Locally, BGF will make renovations to Camp Holiday Trails, Lighthouse Studio and Virginia Discovery Museum. International projects include the construction of a school for orphans in Haiti, a center for at-risk young women in Guatemala and a women’s clinic in Liberia.
“Hillman’s planning background is exactly what we need for these projects because they are bigger in scope than most projects we have undertaken in the past.” said BGF executive director Kelly Eplee.
On Hillman’s election, Eplee added, “We welcome diversity in our leadership at BGF. Hillman brings a new perspective in the male-dominated construction industry.”
Hillman has served on BGF’s board for three years. Her leadership will help the foundation find its identity as an international development organization.
“I am thrilled to work with such a talented and hardworking group of volunteers and staff,” said Hillman.
Dan Fagan will serve as BGF’s vice president. Mike Stoneking is the foundation’s secretary. Marijean Jaggers and Brian Koerner are new members who joined the board of directors. One of BGF’s founders, Jack Stoner, rejoined the board to help steer the organization’s expansion efforts.
