The City of Charlottesville will host the 3rd annual Downtown Toy Lift and Holiday Market at City Hall Plaza (on the Downtown Mall next to Sprint Pavilion) on Friday, December 1st from 10am-5pm.

Toy Lift Charities will be on hand to collect toy and monetary donations for local area children; and over 25 City Market vendors will have a variety of holiday crafts, jewelry, and food on display for passerby’s.

Special guests and City mascots will be suspended in the air by Toy Lift’s signature bucket truck throughout the day and the Charlottesville Municipal Band will perform holiday favorites from 12pm-1pm.

From 5:30-7:30pm, the Toy Lift collection table will relocate to Downtown Mall Central Place for Charlottesville’s Grand Illumination event and all donations made at this time will be registered for a raffle drawing to win gift certificates to participating downtown businesses.

This year marks 30 years that Toy Lift Charities have been giving toys to area children for the holidays. Toy Lift takes place every year on the first Friday in December in multiple locations in the Charlottesville and Albemarle County area.

In 2015, the City of Charlottesville approached Toy Lift’s Executive Director Tom Powell about hosting a Downtown Mall location as a convenience for people living and working in and around the downtown area.

Toy Lift is still looking for volunteers for various locations, days and times, please go to www.toylift.org for details.
