Governor Robert McDonnell has named the president of the University of Virginia Credit Union to serve as the area’s representative on the Commonwealth Transportation Board.
The Culpeper District post has been vacant since January, when James Rich resigned from the position after repeatedly expressing his opposition to the Western Bypass of U.S. 29.
The new member is Allison DeTuncq, a Rivanna District resident who has been in charge of the Credit Union since 1998.
DeTuncq, 57, began working for the Credit Union in 1988 as a branch manager and has been president since 1998. She also is president of the board of directors of the Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union.
DeTuncq is not the only recent new appointment for the Culpeper District. In June, VDOT named John D. Lynch to replace Jim Utterback as district administrator. Lynch formerly served as VDOT’s program director for megaprojects in northern Virginia.
In 2012, the CTB awarded a $135 million contract to the joint venture of Skanska USA and Branch Highways to design and build the 6.2 million highway.
