Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville is pleased to announce the hiring of Ruth Stone as its Chief Advancement Officer. Ruth brings a world of experience and impeccable credentials to the position. Her connections in and commitment to the community are equally profound.

For seventeen years, Stone served as the President and Executive Director of Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children. During that time, she guided CASA from a fledgling organization to one of the most impactful and well-respected NGOs in the region. Under her leadership, CASA provided care and support to thousands of children who needed it most.

Stone earned a law degree from the College of William and Mary and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, and has served as a legal consultant throughout her career.

“I am incredibly blessed and so very proud to have the opportunity join the Habitat team to do good work with good people,” said Stone. “Our local Habitat is a flagship program that shares my passion to join with individuals and families to strengthen communities together.   To get to work with such an innovative, well-managed program is a true honor, and I look forward to the many exciting challenges and adventures ahead.”

Stone began her role on May 2nd.

“We are through the roof excited to welcome Ruth to the Habitat team,” said Habitat President and CEO Dan Rosensweig. “She has a passion for the mission and an enormous heart for service.”
