A born and raised Charlottesvillian, Mike Kropf has led a photography filled life. While working on his Bachelor degree in photography from Longwood University, Mike worked as the Photo Editor of the school newspaper, The Rotunda and founded The Photo Club. After graduating, he went on to become the University Photographer for the school where he covered sports, student events, and the Vice Presidential Debate of 2016. In 2015 Mike worked as a photographer for The Washington Football Team. Throughout this time Mike has run a successful wedding photography business called Eastbrook Photography where he’s photographed the weddings of NFL players, movie directors, and acclaimed journalists.

“Mike’s eagerness and his eye for great photos has elevated Charlottesville Tomorrow’s visuals,” said Charlottesville Tomorrow’s News Editor Elliott Robinson. “He has also helped our newsroom with improving their photography skills.”

When it comes to photojournalism, Mike draws inspiration from his college professor and mentor Mike Mergen as well as AP photographer Julio Cortez, and Matt McClain, a photojournalist with The Washington Post.

On the rare occasion that he is not making photographs, Mike enjoys cooking new cuisines, exploring the world, and meeting new people.
