Charlottesville, VA – November 1, 2016: Happy 85th Birthday, Paramount! This year The Paramount Theater celebrates its 85th year and the Board of Directors and Staff invite the community to join in the celebration! Now through November 25, the community is invited to send the Theater a birthday card. The goal is to collect 1,931 cards, in honor of the year the Theater opened. All cards will be on display now through the event, with the senders being entered into a raffle for  great prizes including gift certificates to the Theater and more!
There are four ways to get involved with sending a birthday card. Make it a group effort! The Piedmont Family YMCA youth group created an incredible card that they delivered to the Theater! This card is on display now inside the theater. You can also grab a card while you shop! Rock, Paper, Scissors on the Downtown Mall has birthday cards available for purchase. You can leave the card with the shop and they will deliver it for you! You can design the card yourself, letting your creativity shine! The Paramount will award prizes for the first, second, and third place original cards.  Finally, go digital! E-cards can be sent to info@theparamount.net. For all submissions, be sure to include your name and phone number or email address so that you can be entered into the raffle! All cards can be sent to: The Paramount Theater, 215 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA, 22902.
Along with our 85th Birthday, every year at Thanksgiving, The Paramount offers events that are fun for the whole family. This year, the award-winning illusionist Mike Super, winner of NBC’s hit-show Phenomenon and revered magician, will be performing live on stage. This event falls on The Paramount Theater’s 85th Birthday! We will celebrate with a giant birthday cake donated from Pearl’s Bake Shoppe, and fun surprises for the entire audience to enjoy.
For more information regarding card submission or the celebration during the Mike Super event on November 25, please contact The Paramount Theater Box Office in person Monday-Friday from 10AM-2PM, by phone at 434.979.1333, or online at www.theparamount.net.

The 1,040 seat Paramount Theater of Charlottesville has been a local landmark since 1931. After holding a prominent place in our community for decades, The Paramount closed in 1974 as business in downtown faded. After an extensive restoration, the fully renovated Paramount Theater re-opened in 2004. As we approach twelve years since reopening, The Paramount has now served hundreds of thousands of Central Virginians and attracted visitors from far and wide. Some of the world’s most celebrated artists have graced its stage. The tally of schoolchildren who have attended educational programs is over 140,000!

As a nonprofit performing arts center, our mission is to:
The Paramount Theater is generously supported by many donors, corporations and organizations. We thank our Paramount Producers Club Sponsors for their generous support.
