55 Students Honored at LVCA Student Achievement Ceremony

Charlottesville, VA (October 31, 2016) – Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle (LVCA) will be hosting a Student Achievement Ceremony to recognize the continuous efforts their students have made towards improving their lives through literacy education. 
The ceremony will take place Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:00pm at the Jefferson School African-American Heritage Center, 233 4th Street NW, Charlottesville.
Wes Bellamy, Charlottesville Vice-Mayor and Albemarle High School Career and Technical Education teacher, will be the event’s guest speaker. The program will also feature two student speakers.
Students who have met significant milestones in their study will be recognized: those who obtained Citizenship, those who completed a program by scoring high enough on standardized tests to move on to other educational endeavors, and those who studied more than 100 hours during the course of the year. A total of 55 students will be recognized. 
Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle (LVCA) provides one-on-one, confidential tutoring in basic literacy and English as a second language to adults living or working in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Talented tutors work closely with our students to help them succeed. LVCA served 413 students in Fiscal Year 2016 through the work of 336 volunteer tutors. Tutors donated 20,986 hours of service.
