County Staff and Architects working on the new Northside Library and Storage Facility presented to the Albemarle Planning Commission Tuesday night.

Their presentation included new detailed renderings of the interior floor plan and exterior views of the future building.

As of Tuesday’s meeting, the project schedule aims to break ground by February 2014 and complete site construction before November 2014.

The new floor plan shows entrances to the library on front and back sides of the building, connected by a “Grand Staircase” from the rear to the front. In the main library area there are designated public meeting spaces, teen and children areas, and even potential space for a cafe.

The final site plan is expected to be submitted on October 21 for approval by the Architectural Review Board.
