Treasurers Office Offers New Passport Application Service at City Hall

The City of Charlottesville Treasurer’s Office is pleased to announce a new service for community members seeking a U.S. Passport. Passport applications may now be initiated in Charlottesville City Hall.

“The City is now offering a convenient, customer-focused service for people who need to get a U.S. passport,” said Jason Vandever, the City Treasurer. “Customers will have the flexibility to schedule their preferred time online without having to call or wait in line for an appointment.”

The initiative is in response to community feedback that another passport application facility was needed given that the Charlottesville area is currently only served by a single U.S. Postal Service facility.

“This is primarily a community service endeavor,” added Vandever. “We are leveraging our location, staff and the City’s website to make getting your passport as efficient and convenient as possible.”

Service is available to all U.S. Citizens, regardless of whether the applicant is a resident of Charlottesville, Albemarle, or the surrounding communities.

The City’s website at http://www.charlottesville.org/passport includes a scheduling form and fee schedule. Appointments can be made online, and openings are available Monday thru Friday, beginning September 10.
