Donors will receive a $5 eGiftCard & can enter to win tickets to Kings Dominion!
(August 9, 2017) – The American Red Cross and Charlottesville Parks & Recreation are joining forces to host Charlottesville’s largest blood drive on August 16 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. The Red Cross encourages eligible donors to make an appointment now to support hospital patients in critical need by giving lifesaving blood. As a special thank you, those who come out to give blood with the Red Cross will be emailed a $5 eGiftCard. *All presenting donors will be entered into hourly raffles to receive a free day pass to Kings Dominion.
This year the Red Cross celebrates its centennial in Charlottesville, the goal is to collect 100 units of blood. The Red Cross is the only blood bank that also provides disaster response and safety services that the community relies on.
“Blood donations often do not keep pace with hospital demand during the summer months, but every day there are thousands who need lifesaving blood,” said Bernadette Jay, external communications manager, Mid-Atlantic and Appalachian Blood Services Regions. “Eligible donors in Charlottesville can help ensure a sufficient community blood supply by joining us to donate at this special drive on August 16.”
