The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce supports a proposal for Albemarle County to create a tax abatement measure to aid businesses that will be affected by the proposed Route 29 Solutions* projects.
*The Route 29 Solutions projects include the $54 million northern extension of Berkmar Drive, the $30 million extension of Hillsdale Drive, the $17 million Best Buy ramp and the $51 million widening of U.S. 29 from Polo Grounds Road to Hollymead Town Center.
The tax abatement measure supported by the Chamber consists of a temporary local property tax reduction (50%) along the U.S. 29 corridor construction zone for fiscal years 2016 through 2018.
