Earth Week Eco Fair 2016

“The annual Earth Week Eco Fair kicks off at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion on April 24 at 11AM.”

Get excited for some earth friendly fun for the whole family! The 14th Annual Charlottesville Earth Week Eco Fair will take place on Sunday, April 24 at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion and Downtown Mall from 11AM to 5PM.

The Eco Fair is an annual Earth Week celebration and exploration of our area’s momentum towards a sustainable future. It’s a time for us to join together to celebrate our community and engage with each other on ways to keep our planet healthy. The event’s mission is to promote awareness of the value of the natural world and encourage the public to learn about the environment, with the goal of creating strong, engaged stewardship that lasts beyond Earth Week.

Of course, we’ll have some fun too! We’ll have live music, delicious food from some of your favorite local food trucks and popups, free yoga sessions, engaging speakers, skillshare workshops, raffles and fun activities for the kids. The Tesla Motor’s Club will have a couple Tesla cars on display and will be available to answer questions about these fantastic electric cars. You could even win a family summer pool pass, courtesy of Charlottesville Parks & Rec, or a family pass to the Virginia Discovery Museum. We’re also raffling off two bikes, courtesy of Community Bikes.

This year the Eco Fair reflects on the question, how is our energy moving us into the future? Positive energy, positive community. As we learn more about the impacts of global warming, and experience the effects of a changing climate, it’s all the more important to explore and understand how our community can, and does, make a difference toward protecting our one, and only, planet. The way we use energy, whether that’s mental, physical, spiritual, or for powering our homes, cars, and devices, influences the outcome of our future. Join us at this FREE event to learn how we’re using positive energy to build a positive community.

The Eco Fair couldn’t happen without the support and dedication of a small group of loyal volunteers, but we always need more help. If you’re interested in volunteering for the Eco Fair please visit www.earthweek.org/volunteer to sign up.

Support our fundraising efforts prior to the event by visiting us at Fridays After Five on April 22nd at the Pavilion, where we’ll be pouring beer. A percentage of beer sales that night will go toward the costs of the Eco Fair. We’re also the recipient of Nickels for Nonprofits at Whole Foods from April 11 May 8 so don’t forget your reusable bag!

We have a few exhibitor spaces available for ecoconscious organizations and businesses that want to share their message or products. The cost of a retail exhibitor space is $150 and $75 for nonprofits. Register online at www.earthweek.org/exhibitors by April 17.

Check out the other Earth Week events going on around Charlottesville on our website at www.earthweek.org/schedule including An Earth Day Conversation with Barbara Kingsolver on Earth Day, April 22nd, at the Paramount Theater.

Thank you to our sponsors and community partners.
