A weeklong analysis of Preston Avenue by students in the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture has ended without a public presentation.
The fifth annual Vortex had been scheduled to wrap up Sunday with an all-day public event at the Carver Recreational Center, but the event was canceled due to this weekend’s snowstorm.
“The school will organize public events in February at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall to give students the opportunity to present their Vortex work to the public,” said Cynthia Smith, the architecture school’s spokeswoman.
No further details were available Monday.
Student groups had until Saturday night to turn in their projects in digital form but were not able to work on the physical projects in Campbell Hall because UVa was closed Friday in anticipation of the storm.
Some Vortex participants held an informal snow-shoveling event Sunday in the neighborhood beginning at the intersection of 10th Street and Preston Avenue.
“We covered about four or five blocks of yards and cars in the road,” said Anna Cai, a fourth-year student who participated on the communications team for the Vortex.
