A $203 million package of solutions to ease traffic congestion on U.S. 29 through Albemarle and Charlottesville was unveiled last week. The proposals include one new road, a grade-separated intersection at Rio Road, study of a similar facility at Hydraulic Road, and a down payment on a second daily Amtrak train. We’d like your opinion in our reader poll (and comments below!) on one of the proposals in the package.
Do you support the U.S. 29 – Rio Rd Interchange proposal?
This PowerPoint presentation includes larger images and shows how approaching thru-traffic would be shifted to the middle lanes passing under Rio Road thus avoiding the traffic signal. In the image below, North is at top.
