The Charlottesville School Board last week decided to rethink when the school day begins.
Under a proposal prepared by staff, students in grades pre-k through four would start school at 7:50 a.m., rather than the current time of 8:30 a.m., and fifth through eighth graders would start at 8:20 a.m., instead of 7:40 a.m.
