April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. This year’s SAAM theme is “Prevention is Possible,” recognizing that communities can successfully reduce the risk of sexual violence through efforts that promote respect, equality, and accountability.
The Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA) invites you to join us on April 5th between 8-10 am for a kickoff event for SAAM. April 5th is the nationwide Day of Action (#dayofaction), providing an opportunity for us to engage our community in prevention and keep the conversation going all month long and beyond. Prevention is possible when everyone gets involved. We must work together to educate our community about sexual violence prevention, supporting survivors, and speaking out against harmful attitudes and actions.
We hope to see you on April 5th at our office, 335 Greenbrier Drive, Suite 102 between 8 – 10 am. There will be a short presentation at 9:00 am. Breakfast is kindly being provided by our community partner, Mudhouse Coffee.
SARA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is fully accredited through the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, and is the only sexual assault crisis agency in this service area, and has been providing services to the community for over 35 years.
Parking is available to guests all around the building. Hope to see you there!
