In Albemarle, the raises are intended to partially offset rising health insurance costs paid by employees. In Charlottesville, school board chair Amy Laufer praised efforts to improve teacher pay. “This budget reflects our commitment to the compensation of our teachers,” said Laufer at last week’s school board meeting.
