The African American Teaching Fellows of Charlottesville-Albemarle is pleased to welcome their new Executive Director Tamara Wilkerson. Ms. Wilkerson takes over for Ravenn Gethers who joined American University of Antigua College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor. As a former Fellow of the program, Ms. Wilkerson is passionate about supporting the educators of tomorrow who will impact the Albemarle and Charlottesville community. Having served as an educator in the local schools, she brings a multifaceted background in K-12 education, and has worked directly with the students that the African American Teaching Fellows aims to impact through its recruitment of highly qualified African American teachers.  Ms. Wilkerson is an Ed.D. candidate in Leadership at Morgan State University, and has a passion for diversity in education as it impacts student success.

In 2015, African American Teaching Fellows provided direct tuition and other support to our Fellows, and they in turn worked with numerous young people in the Albemarle-Charlottesville community. African American Teaching Fellows is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that is addressing the racial disparity in our local schools by recruiting and supporting African American college students planning to become teachers.

We look forward to continuing to prepare our Fellows for public school teaching careers in our local schools, and invite your support. To find out more, visit our website http://www.aateachingfellows.org/. Or call us at 434-220-4264.
