Update 3:30 p.m.: Virginia’s voter registration website is back up, the state’s Department of Elections said. Residents may register to vote here.
Update 2p.m.: Albemarle County said it has fixed the issue with its in-person voting check-in system, and residents may vote in-person as usual. The state’s voter registration website remains down.
It’s the last day to register to vote in Virginia, and the state’s voter registration website has been down since before 10 a.m., along with the in-person voting check-in system.
The issue stems from a fiber line that was cut near the state’s Commonwealth Enterprise Solutions Center, in Chester, the Virginia Department of Elections said in a Tweet.
“Technicians are on site and working to repair,” the agency said. “Updates will be provided as work progresses.”
No new information has been posted.
Besides the state’s voter registration page, the outage has also affected local voting centers. Albemarle County tweeted this morning that “any voter coming to vote early in-person can not be check[ed] in on the poll books [and] will only be able to vote a provisional ballot.”

This is a developing story.
