The Albemarle School Board adopted an operational budget of $160.4 million. The Board had to cut $3.9 million from its original funding request to arrive at a balanced spending plan. The budget increased from $155.3 million last year, or by about 3 percent. Some school board members said the cuts were cause for concern and that savings could have been found elsewhere in the budget.
