The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors heard from Gary Fern, the new Executive Director of the
Albemarle County Service Authority
on the draft drought response and contingency plan at their Wednesday, May 3, 2006 meeting. Fern presented the different stages of the drought response plan and explained some of the processes involved in meeting necessary water restrictions. A subsequent discussion among staff and board members included suggestions for water conservation, harsher penalties for violators, status of current water supply conditions, and monitoring of well-water locations not on the public supply.
