Should Albemarle Public School teachers receive a salary increase greater than the 2% that is currently proposed?
Currently the Board of Supervisors and the School Board are recommending a 2 percent salary increase for teachers, effective in the middle of fiscal year 2016.
This school year, to help reduce a budget shortfall, teacher salary increases were reduced from 2 percent to 1 percent. Next year’s initial budget proposal already has a $3.1 million funding gap, however, teachers say the 2 percent increase is not enough.
What do you think? Should Albemarle County public school teachers get a pay increase greater than the proposed two percent?
