Registration is now open for Piedmont Virginia Community College’s KidsCollege summer STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and arts academies for rising third through ninth graders. Classes start Monday, June 11, and continue through Friday, Aug. 10, at PVCC’s Main Campus, located at 501 College Drive in Charlottesville.

The week-long, half-day academies provide an in-depth exploration into the areas of STEM and the arts for students entering third through tenth grade. Popular academies available this summer include virtual reality, 3D printing, Minecraft, photography, drones, robotics, sculpture, rocketry, engineering, dance and acting.

KidsCollege Academies at PVCC are offered from 8:45 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Half- and full-day options with additional supervised lunch times are available. Supervised care before and after the academies is also available. Partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

KidsCollege at Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC) for rising seventh through tenth grade students will return this year. CATEC, located at 1000 East Rio Road in Charlottesville, will offer KidsCollege classes from Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 29. Classes include engineering, auto tech, cooking, firefighting and biology.

In partnership with Fluvanna County Public Schools, PVCC will once again host KidsCollege at Fluvanna for rising first through ninth grade students. Classes begin Monday, June 4, and continue through Friday, June 15. Registration for KidsCollege at Fluvanna begins in February.
