Charlottesville Home Weatherization Program

This program, a partnership between the City of Charlottesville and the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), provides no-cost home energy efficiency upgrades for homeowners and renters. Improvements may include air sealing, attic insulation, hot water pipe insulation, programmable thermostats, and water-saving upgrades.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • You are a Charlottesville Gas customer who lives in a single-family home, duplex, or townhouse.
  • You use either natural gas to heat your home, and/or hot water with a gas furnace or boiler.
  • Your income is less than or equal to 80% of area median income (AMI). Examples as of 2026:
    • $85,450 for a family of 2
    • $106,800 for a family of 4
  • If you are age 60 or older, your income is less than or equal to:
    • $75,584 for a family of 1
    • $98,842 for a family of 2
