Albemarle County Public Schools has named Dean Tistadt as Chief Operating Officer. Tistadt comes to Albemarle from Fairfax County Public Schools, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for Facilities and Transportation Services.
Tistadt’s responsibilities will include the supervision of Albemarle’s transportation, building services, child nutrition and fiscal services departments.
“I am well aware of Albemarle County’s educational leadership role in our state,” Tistadt said in a press release, “as well as the innovative opportunities the school division offers students and their families.”
“I always have valued talking with staff, parents and students about how we can continue to raise the level of our services, and I am looking forward to benefiting from the wonderful teamwork that has been such a valued contributor to Albemarle’s success,” Tistadt added.
In Fairfax, Tistadt oversaw a budget of $220 million, which included maintaining 235 buildings and the daily transportation of 130,000 students. Additionally, he was a senior budget analyst and a deputy transportation director.
“Our interview panel met with several exceptional candidates, each of whom truly offered outstanding credentials,” Assistant Superintendent for Organizational and Human Resource Leadership Dr. Matt Haas said. “We were most impressed, however, by the scope of Dean’s experience.”
“His development and on-time management of Fairfax’s extensive capital improvement program, his work on public-private partnerships, and his leadership on safety and security initiatives and on crisis planning will well serve our community,” Haas added.
Tistadt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from George Mason University and a Master’s in Public Administration from George Washington University.
Tistadt replaces Josh Davis, who accepted a position with Henrico County Schools in early July.
