You can now take Charlottesville Tomorrow’s 2026 Audience Survey.

Our newsroom learns about you, our community, in many ways. We meet you one-on-one to understand what you want from local news and gather reader feedback through our website. We show up at community events and table at county fairs.

Every two years, we also do an audience survey to be sure we are reaching and serving the diverse communities of central Virginia.

The 2024 survey, run in partnership with Charlottesville Inclusive Media, highlighted ways we could better reach people across central Virginia. You said you wanted more in-person events — and we listened!

Since late 2025, Charlottesville Tomorrow has invested in direct community engagement, showing up at events all over central Virginia to hear from you and share our resources more widely. We’ve invited groups to our newsroom on Charlottesville’s downtown mall and invested more into joining panels and community conversations.

“The audience survey is one of our most important tools to understand central Virginia. We are a mission-driven nonprofit organization that relies on our community to help us serve you,” said Angilee Shah, CEO and Editor-in-Chief. “So we really appreciate everyone’s time and willingness to help shape our work.”

For Charlottesville Tomorrow’s 2026 Audience Survey, we want to better understand what local news and information you need — and what would make it easier for you to get it.

The survey should take you less than five minutes. The first part asks what news topics you’re most interested in and the different ways you want to get information. The second part of the survey asks for your demographics to help us know who we are reaching, and not reaching.

Help us make sure that our newsroom reaches the diverse communities of central Virginia in a way that works for all of us.

My job is to understand your news needs and bring your ideas to our reporters. I also share Charlottesville Tomorrow's successes and learnings with donors, partners and our colleagues in the news industry. Let's find a time to talk.
